We enjoyed our stay at Touchstone in San Francisco. It is SO close to Union Square - but much less expensive. Everything was just as advertised. There are no "frills" here -- but absolutely nothing to complain about. I thought we were 'downgrading' a bit and saving money -- but everything was good quality/clean/etc. All of the people behind the desk were very friendly, helpful, and quick. *I had seen a picture of a room with two twin beds and the room looked VERY small; I was a little concerned that our room with two doubles would be small (and that the pictures looked deceptively not small); being so close to tourist city center - that would be fair to have small rooms; however, our room very a very reasonable size, two closets, a nice little desk and chair; and a decent bathroom. Our room was next to the elevator which concerned me at first - while I did hear the machinery of the elevator a couple times during the night - there was no loud talking, or otherwise people making a lot of noise from the elevator and walking down the hall. It is a small hotel - with its door in between two restaurants, but we found it with no trouble at all. The parking they mention: they have a discount at a parking lot about a block up and half a block down a side street. I still consider $30 a night expensive since I'm already paying for the hotel! -- but it's MUCH cheaper than other hotels or finding a parking lot nearby. They were also friendly and we had no issues.

Great location on Geary Street close to Union Square itself; on the 38 bus route, close to the Powell Mason cable car line and Powell Station for BART, F Line streetcars and so many bus routes to link you with SFO airport, the main tourist destinations, sports stadiums, the wider city, and Bay area. Restaurants, theatres and shopping for all budgets are within a very short walk. The staff in both hotel and David's Diner are extremely friendly, helpful and kind. This is an old building, so expect slow response to elevator controls, period features and single glazed windows. There was no a/c but a bedroom ceiling fan was fitted if required. Two queen-size bedded room at the front of the building overlooking the street had plenty of space for adult and teenager sharing. Two wardrobe spaces, an iron, room to store suitcases, drawers and a mirrored makeup table were all useful, along with USB ports on the bedside table to charge mobile devices. The bathroom was functional with powerful shower set over low-rise bath, and perfectly adequate for a city base. Fresh towels were provided and bed linens were changed each day. On the ground floor, David's Diner is an historic diner serving classic breakfast and lunch dishes to the soundtrack of a wonderful 50's songbook.

It was the best hotel experience ever!! The hotel is so clean, cosy and the staff are super super helpful and are extremely friendly.. Special thanks goes to "Juliet" from the Reception Team .She was so great in every way and she helped me alot with many things. Also, many thanks to" Rony" from the reception team, as well. As for food, I have enjoyed sooo much my daily breakfast at David Deli's restaurant ( the one next door of the hotel).Special thanks also to " Jimmy" from the Restaurant Team. In summary, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to San Francisco!!!! 😊

I loved the bathroom. All though it is small the shower is original to its time. The shower pan even has natural anti-slip with how it was made. I have been to 60 countries so far. For its location and size it is fantastic. I have been in much smaller rooms in New York and London. When people complain about the size I believe they are comparing to large chain hotels. I checked those places the nights I needed and they were three times as much. Everything about this hotel is cute and clean. What it lacks in size it makes up for in character.

Tammy

Perfect location near Union Square, with many restaurants and bars nearby. Just right on the " good" side of the border with Tenderloin. Close to public transportation. Discount obtained to get breakfast in a restaurant next to the hotel. It is a safe hotel with a controlled/monitored entrance. The staff was amicable all the time.
